Utahraptor ( "utah-theif ") is a large dromaeosaurid from early cretaceous North America, its diet includes Gastonia, Tenontosaurus, and small sauropods. It is thought to have been out competed by Acrocanthosaurus, deinonychus, and Siats. He is more closely related to Dromaeosaurus and Achillibator than to Velociraptor and its lineage.
As a Dromaeosaurid he had 2 large re-curved talons on its feet that can be deployed as steak knives and also as tools to hold down prey as it tore it apart with it's teeth, and claws. The first specimens were found in 1975 but were ignored by most scientists until a large foot claw was discovered in 1991.The type species and only known species Utahraptor ostrommayi, at first it was actually intended to be named Utahraptor spielbergi after the director Steven Speilberg. Utahraptor is known to be able to jump 3 m ( 10 ft ) and run at speeds up to 35-42 mph, very fast for an animal of it's size.
